anyone using a driveworks filter? igot two for my cars with the peak oil special at advance auto parts.the cartridge looks just like the orginal and the spin on is heavier than the other filters i have bought.

You got a cartridge? Good deal!! Those are usually six bucks or so right?

I run DW can filters, no complaints.

This. A member posted some pictures of one cut open a little while ago, looked like a solid non-extended drain filter.

Any complaints on the Driveworks seem to center around the ADBV creating start-up noise. May be fine for 2-3K - then begin yakking at start-up.

The DW filter for my 2.2 Ecotec has better looking (more evenly spaced) pleats than the Purolator right next to it on the shelf.
It looks good to me.

I have been wanting to try one. I think I will once I go through the stock of purolators and supertechs I have for my Dakota. I know they are made in China but they appear well built.

I guess for me, it's not worth it. If I was pinching pennies, the dollar more that I pay for a Purolator classic would be worth the peace of mind that I would not have with the Chinese product. Besides, my local Menards has the Purolator-made Quaker State filters on sale for $2. I've used a few of them for some of my vehicles and all of them (so far) have been made in USA.

The only things that I can say about the DriveWorks Oil Filters is...that they look great in the cut open filter pictures that some members have posted here at Bob's. And when I picked up a filter in it's boxes for my applications, the DW's felt much heavier in each of my applications than the Purolators that were sitting right next to the DW's on the shelf. I don't know if this means anything!

Yeah I don't see going Chinese to save less than 50 cents. The ADBV on the Driveworks is suspect anyway, lots of reports of leaks.

If you like "heavy" filters another option is the USA made Baldwin, built like tanks and very inexpensive also.

update:Friend of mine is complaining about startup noise when the engine is cold. He has a horizontally mounted filter (1.5L Mazda) I suspect the filter is draining over several hours when the engine sits.

All my rides have up facing filters, so I've never given ADBV a second thought.

Not good since I secretly stockpiled (8) DW filters and 40+ qts of peak oil for him since he doesn't have much $$ for maintaining his car.

Don't sweat it. I've had good luck with the cheaper, nitrile ADBVs. Heck, at one time, that's all there was. Any ADBV from one sample of any line of filters can be faulty.

The Driveworks seem to be solid, but I've noted an unusually high number of complaints regarding poor function of the ADBV. I don't know if it's one or two filter sizes or the whole line but I've noted it posted frequently.

I don't see the appeal of DW when a Puro Classic is 50 cents more but to each his own.

I just checked out a Drive Works for my Corolla, and although the part numbers are Purolator based, the filter was no where near Purolator. It had a spin flow style center tube with a coil spring style relief valve. I wonder what company actually makes the Drives Work's filters. To me, it looked like a Napa filter!
