I have seen these sold by Tool Guy Republic and by Private Brand Tools (PBT). The idea looks promising - do these work as advertised?

I don't see why they wouldn't work.

But since we're dealing with fairly viscous oils that won't flow quickly through the tube, what's the advantage of the drill pump? Just get a small manual pump. Once you get the fluid moving it takes very little to keep it going. Heck, sometimes you can even siphon them.

Friend used one to transfer 50 gallons of diesel from a holding tank with a hole to his tractor, truck, and 5-gallon cans he used a AC powered drill. He said it might not work with gas; the diesel took a few hours; it was not fast

Speed, less messy and form factor.

Unless you are transfering a very large quantity, a ten dollar transfer pump from Harbor Freight will accomplish the same thing at a fraction of the cost.

I want Milwaukee to make a M12 or M18 one of these so bad. As far as the manual pumping, it gets old after a while.

The guts look like the $10 harbor freight vane style fluid transfer pump. I don't know what benefit the big shield provides, keeps your drill from getting dirty? The "adaptors" (a legitimate spelling, if unusual in USA English) are handy but what's stopping you from just sticking a hose in the hole, and what about venting?

The cheap pumps are pretty disappointing-- they are finicky to prime. Paying more has the potential to increase the pain further.

What are you pumping? For fuel, you can get an actual pump for the same price.

For oil, I use a garden sprayer with the spray tip removed.

I bought a slippery Pete 30cc / pump transfer pump, the drill ones do not work well for oil or transmission fluid from what ive read… If anyone has a suggestion for one that does work well, im all ears.

I’m curious about suggestions for how to clean the pump between fluids… I have a hell of a job cleaning mine after using it for transmission fluid and needing to switch to engine oil or diff fluid etc.

I have one, I don't use it because it is near worthless. There are many other powered options that won't wear out your drill, all while leaking everywhere.

Why not pump a few squirts of gasoline through, then a couple of windshield wash fluid? The gas will dissolve the oil and the w/w alcohol will get rid of the gas which is better for the seals.

Cross contaminating ATF and engine oil isn't a huge deal. Gear oil is a little more b/c you don't want sulfur where it doesn't go. Only thing to keep exclusive use is brake fluid IMO.

I had one and wasn’t impressed at all with the function. Slow, low suction, kinda a pain to deal with.

I ended up getting a pump from Amazon that uses my M18 battery’s. Works quite good.

I have a few different ones, the Mellif stick pump that takes Dewalt batteries is my favorite, dunk it in and aim and spray. My 2nd favorite is any cheap 12v pump from Amazon. I have a drill pump, but haven’t bothered to use it for the simple fact that I don’t have a third arm. Transferring fluid can be very messy, and the drill pump seems awkward.
