Has anyone actually witnessed this happening on an engine in reasonably good condition that was fully warmed up, then shut off, drained the oil overnight, re-filled with fresh oil and filter, then re-started within 24 hours? Please don't tell me about Billy-Joe-Jim-Bob's uncle Wilmer who knew someone that heard about it happening, I would like first-hand info please.quote:
...First, letting the oil drain overnight, you can cause the oil pump to lose priming and causing wear and tear of the oil pump...

You, oli, are a true-blue BITOGer! (aka, a psychiatrist's dream patient - no known cure and on whom lotsa money is to be made) But perhaps you should consider going the final step - draining your motor oil during the night time hours of a total planetary syzygy - the periodic cycle when all nine known planets in our solar system are aligned. (Consider using full synthetic motor oil 'cause the OCI will be absurdly long. The last total syzygy in this solar system occurred in 1982. If you intend to do an oil drain through two full syzygy episodes, note it in your last will and testament - as the Dixie Chicks observed, they's "A Long Time Comin'"...)quote:

After removing the filter and the drain plug, I let all of the air out of one tire and then refill. I do this with every tire and I get approximately 0.05 ounces per tire procedure. I only change the oil during the daytime following a full moon to take advantage of the gravitational pull. Tests confirm that this will net an additional ounce or so. If allowed to drain through two full moons, an additional ounce is common, but that might not be possible for most people.
Neither. I haven't managed to wear out my Volkswagen (1969) yet.quote:

The newest TSB says that you need to drive counter clockwise in reverse. However, clockwise is still correct for those in the southern hemisphere.quote:
the drain hole and the oil filter both empty towards the driver side of the car. 4. Drive car in clockwise circles utilizing centripetal force to move as much oil out the holes as possible.
I drive a 2001 VW Passat V6, the drain hole and the oil filter both empty towards the driver side of the car. In order to get every last drop of oil out, I utilize the following proceedure in a clean room.quote:
