I'm looking for a new drain plug for my explorer. Currently, when I take the oe plug out, it drains directly on the frame/control arm. What I'm looking for is a cheap plug that I can put a hose on to drain it a lot easier. A magnet on the tip would also be a bonus. Thanks!

Look for a Fram Sure drain. You can find them cheap ($10 shipped on occasion) on the net and they are easy to install and use. They are slower to drain but warming the engine helps.

You are asking for a lot for "cheap". Fumoto drain valves are the only good ones I have heard about (and they still get complaints, but what doesn't) You would have to do some research to see if there is one that is magnetic also. I sure don't know of any.

Looks like you may need the SD2 - Here is one for under $15.

Personally, I like the SD just as much as the Fumoto. Actually for the price difference, I would take the SD any day. It's a solid piece that works as intended. The only complains are usually the slow drain and some people think it sticks down too far. On most vehicle that is not a problem though.

I'd set up one of those pig form a funnel items to direct the oil where you want. I dont see how you'll get directed drain and a magnet otherwise...

You could go fumoto and put the magnet on the filter.

I sometimes fashion a piece of aluminum foil to divert oil from making a mess. VERY Cheap,it works, and nothing to clean up. I fold it several times to make it stronger. Shape it so the oil hits the foil, then is diverted down to the pan.

A magnet on the filter makes more sense than the drain plug. I highly recommend the Fumoto drain valve. They make a version with a hose barb fitting.
The oldest one that I've got has been in use is about 6 years old with no issues. The first oil change I did on my Civic I replaced the OEM plug with a Fumoto. Tool-less oil changes.

Yep!

This is what I have for my wife's Pilot. The oil filter drains all over the A arm when I pull it. Now just bend the pig funnel and it all goes in my pan. Really cool little tool!

I have had one of those Fram Sure Drain deals on my Jeep since 2001 and really like it. You can point the hose right at the drain pan. It can be a little slow if the motor is not warmed up good before you drain the oil though.

That looks just like the Fram Sure-drain I've had on my Ford Ranger for years. Works great - no leaks, no problems, and oil goes right into the container
