Drain factory fill or wait

I have about 250 miles on my 2025 GLI. Should I change the oil now or wait until I get back from Bristol TN which will put me at about 1500 miles on the odometer. What's the best way to go about it?

I like the 1500 miles and I make sure to do some decent engine braking too, something like 4k rpm at 60 down to 30 whenever you get the chance. Maybe a couple dozen times in the first few hundred miles?

Best way to go about it? In my case, I prefer top-side vacuum extraction.

I'd also wait until a few more miles before dumping the factory fill; 1500-2500 seems like a good number, then every 5-6K thereafter.

I would wait until your trip is over. Then, with the engine hot, drain it and change the filter. Use a factory filter and factory recommended oil to protect your warranty. Keep the receipts and log your work.

not just blindly following the sales people.
😂 Sales people don't write owners manuals. 🙄 If people want to change their (synthetic) oil ever 3000 miles, go for it. Doesn't mean it's necessary and there's no empirical proof it makes an engine last longer. The majority of vehicle owners do follow the car's monitors or go even longer and still last hundreds of thousands of miles. There are plenty of members here who follow them as well and their cars are at 250k miles and counting.

Why do oil makers advertise their oil as being good for 10k, even 20k miles ? They want to sell MORE oil, don't they ?
