Each year I change driveline fluids before the upcoming hunting season.

I did some replacement fluid calibration this time with calibrated 1L and 0.25L metric containers.

Remove the 10mm bolt from the dipstick holddown. After draining the re5ro5e Automatic transmission fluid add 3.25L, replace dipstick and then road drive to get the fluid hot.

Back in the garage with the engine running, I remove the dipstick and add enough fluid to get it 3/4 of the way up on the "Hot" indicator side of the dipstick (it has a cold area on one side and a hot graduation on the other side). The total amount of fluid needed is about 3.5L, but take an average of at least three readings to get the right volume replaced. Do not overfill as this causes excessive foaming. Replace dipstick hold down bolt after engine cools down. I have been testing HPL GreenCC in the tranny now for over 18 months and up/down shifting is smooth but firm.

The drain bolt is a 19mm bolt located right over a cross member, so I took a 1 gallon plastic jug and split it vertically to a 1" thickness so it's spout drains into the drain pan. The drain bolt does have a copper washer so when it gets thin, replace it.

For the transfer case it holds exactly 2L before you see any drip down from the drain plug area (10mm internal wrenching plugs). I have been testing HPL BlueCC ATF in the TC and engagement/disengagement is really good in cold weather.

Anyway, that's my procedure and as usual, your mileage may vary.

My condolences to the newer vehicle owners who have to have a more complicated fluid replacement procedure.

Addendum: The power steering fluid reservoir holds 150 mL HPL BlueCC ATF
