I'm done with low flow everything. Those of us lucky enough to live in New England are water rich, use it!

Water is cheap, and sewer is cheaper than septic.

Water and sewer are great, wells and septic are a PITA.

I have that slider doohickey on my shower head. Something nice about setting the temp in one spot and the flow in another. So I cut the flow midshower for the lathering process before boosting it again for the rinse. I take my time in the shower; it's a nice break from the day and I don't need to rinse all the soap suds off in 15 seconds or less.

That said, pressure is everything; if there were a cheap, feasible way to boost just the shower's pressure I'd be first in line. Now that I think about it, if I could get the toilet to recharge in about five seconds I'd be in nirvana there too.

Municipal water is undrinkable. I literally CANNOT drink it...the overpowering chlorine taste actually makes me retch.

My septic costs me almost nothing...if it's $100/year, I'd be stunned.

Our well is a non-flowing artesian well, the pipes for the pump are in the ground an additional 80 foot. Been there since the 30's and the water table is 10-15 feet under the surface. Maybe I can throw some pics up tomorrow.

So Cal water company gave 2 low flow heads like this one to each dwelling after fill out a simple form.

I don't install it because I like my handheld shower head. It is 2.5gpm but doesn't fell low flow at all.

When I was on the road, many drivers took their own shower heads with them and used them in the truck stops. Yes truck stops really have bad or useless shower heads. Sounds stupid doesn't it, well its true.

See now for me it's the opposite. I can't/refuse to drink well water. That being said though, I rarely drink muncipal water. I mainly drink spring water/filtered bottled water (aquafina/dasani/poland spring etc) only.

What about the water line to your ice maker? You need a charcoal filter with its own little spigot on your kitchen sink. No more chlorine. My water comes from a lake. At certain (hot) times of the year, it tastes like it. Really! Charcoal eliminates that.

My septic system has been trouble free for nearly 30 yrs. Very deep water table here. Saved thousands $$$$ over that time. No sewer for me, thanks.

Is that a Peerless Classic? That`s what I have :^) $6 dollars and it`s THEE BEST shower head on the planet! I bought mine at Walmart. I have the old all metal one, which I don`t know if they make anymore. All I see are the plastic ones now.

In the Chicago area, the suburbs get Lake Michigan water now. Those that choose not to, have high water tables now, as the use by others is less.
Lake Michigan water is great. Very soft - hardly any minerals. No water softener needed! Great for washing clothes and bathing.

No icemaker. I have a filter on my water system to remove minerals.

Septic systems are cheap until you have to build a new one.

Once you factor that in they cost more than sewer. I know when I buy raw land I cut $20k-$30k off the value of each lot if their is no sewer or water to connect too, sometimes more since in my area we have a lot of bureaucracy to deal with.

Do you pay your home's water bill? You will understand the cost then better and why they exist.

If you use a electric or gas water tank heater they are beneficial since recovery time is dreadful with those.

I dont pay the water bill but my mom has me run the sprinker system twice a day during the hot part of the summer, which means about two hours a day total. I don't think she is super concerned with the water bill.

When I was in high school there was one teacher who used to brag about how he would save water. He hardly ever took a bath or shower and said that he flushed his toilet only one every three days.

A student raised his hand and said:

What do you flush it with? A shovel?

LOL!
