Double over fill!

I'd guess they drained the CVT and filled the engine.
its stupid but if you are not paying attention .. possible to do..
That exact thing happened to my future son in laws Subaru at Pep Boys, but I assumed a dealer would not make that mistake. Maybe I give the dealer too much credit.

its pretty hard because IIRC the cvt is a recessed hex(might be torx on some models)... and the oil drain is 17mm bolt.
His Subaru was like a 2005 so I don't know the specifics other than Pep Boys drained the ATF and poured more oil in the crankcase.

I'd like to know how a 2024 has 82K+ miles ... That's a LOT of driving. 41k miles a year? About 800 miles a week with no interruption? 110+ miles a day for 365 days of the year?

Regardless ... I'd assess the engine performance and current driving status. If it's all OK then I'd take the $2600 and ask about an extended warranty. My guess is it's fine.

Dump that dealer.....
Where's the oversight on vehicles leaving the service center?

I’m not surprised the idiot didn’t bother to check oil level before returning car to the OP.

Very sad.

It's not common, but it happens. I do 43-44K, and that's daily commute only.

I would also ask for an extended warranty.

Well, I'm going to the dealership to talk to with the GM and maybe the president tomorrow with a two full paged typed day by day account detailing each day since March 6th......Wish me luck! If I don't ask for more ....I'll never get it.....

My thoughts exactly.
1) they dramatically overfilled the engine
2) they cracked new spark plugs upon installation
3) WHY did they need to drive 400 mi to burn off a tank of gas???? Is there no easy access to a fuel line and fuel pump relay? I pumped the whole tank of an '11 Forester into buckets-- due to bad gas -- and made the fuel pump do all the work.
Just driving someone's car randomly for 400 miles seems like a waste of time, questionable ethics (ripe for abuse) and amateur hour. "Cuzin Cletus said we gotta burn up dis hole tank o gas so we just gotta drive round n round HEHE!!"

I had an impala with a 3.6 and the dealer filled the engine as if it were a v8. If memory serves, it was years ago, that was 2 qts overfilled. I checked the dipstick at home right away and just did it myself and called. They offered a bunch of free oil changes, and I laughed at them. They ended up giving me a bunch of oil filters because I had implied that in no way would they ever touch my drain plug and car in general. If they couldn’t change oil I didn’t trust them to repair anything. This was a small dealership with no express lube, so there was no blame to lay there.

Actually I was wrong this is the CVT drain on some ... (sticker not included)

I might have been thinking of the 6mt drain plug not the cvt.

When I had a fleet vehicle, I wasn't allowed to change my own oil. We used MAVIS. No offense to them, but mistakes happen. I ALWAYS checked oil level in parking lot before I drove away. I feel weird because I know they can see me, but better safe than sorry.
