As then title says are the Dorman trans pans with drain plugs a good quality part? Thanks in advance.

They're actually pretty good. I have one to install in my Liberty, the quality at least judging from the weight and appearance looks to be better than OE, which in my application is starting to rot. There was a time when they had some issues with the drain plug leaking, that issue so I heard was resolved. HTH

Dorman actually has a couple of decent products oil and trans pans are one of them. Many GM 3800 Gen II engines in the salt belt had rusty oil pans, the OE replacement was NOS so same thing, the Dorman pans held up without rusting.
The only part of it that was a little cheesy was the drain plug threads, OE used a heavy square nut tack welded inside the Dorman used what looked like a rivet nut. Still, they seem to hold up and not strip but if it did there is not enough meat there for an oversize or rethread.

Usually decent, Ivd put a few in Jeeps that were rotting away after 7 or 8 years. I thought Dormans gimmick was upgraded oe quality, or desiging better replacement parts that have common failure points. Still make in CHina, but not always a bad thing.

I have one on my 4T65E with no complaints. I worry about leaks from the drain bolt once I remove it for the first time, but if it does have an issue, I don't it's anything that a washer won't fix.

I bought one with a drain bolt for my Caravan's 62TE transmission and it looks like decent quality that I would feel comfortable changing the OE pan with it. I have to worry about pan rot here with all the salt on the roads and it seems like it would stand up just fine.

Thanks every one again. I want a drain plug in the pan and it seems easier to buy a Dorman pan than weld in a drain plug.

I will be doing the same to my Alero at some point as well. The reviews suggest that the drain pan bolt gasket is something you should source separately and not use the one that comes with it.

They are awesome
