Done with Blackstone

I've never used Blackstone, but what's a realistic turnaround time for a $30 UOA service? I've used Napa and, from memory, it was around a month, which I was completely fine with.

Been with them for decades. No more. Takes 2+ weeks and the last two times..even though it went to their correct address. They lost them for 2 weeks. Does anyone use NAPA?
I had to call Blackstone to see where my order was but it took about three weeks give or take a day.

I order Oil Analyzers kits through the Amsoil website. I'm not a member, just buy the kits there. If you buy 3 at a time, the discount plus free shipping drops the per kit price to less than BS with a TBN.

OA uses gas chromatography for fuel dilution and oxidation/nitration results are included in the cost.

Turnaround time for me is 1 week. I buy the kits with the prepaid UPS labels. My work has UPS pick up every day, so I just take it to work on a Monday, it delivers to OA by Wed, and I usually have results Thursday afternoon or Friday morning.

I use the NAPA ALS and it takes about 1-2 weeks. I think is you send the sample to one of their labs closest to you it is fairly quick. Their main address is outside of Atlanta which gets the most and is the slowest. I send mine to Cleveland area from WV and it is pretty quick.

My first and last experience with them is when I sent in 3 samples, 1 VOA, 1 home brew for VOA, and a 2K mile sample of a home brew.

They mixed up the results then when they sent the analysis, they said they were able to figure it out then the numbers were whacked again.

I asked if I could send them another batch of oil, (all 3 tests again) and could they waive the fee since they admitted to the mix up, they denied my request stating they feel they corrected the results.

Amazing how a moly level can increase in a VOA from an oil with nowhere near those levels, as well as a 2K mile sample. All 3 results were all over the place, so my next sample will be through Polaris labs.

I found a hack. My last Blackstone labs mail in package blew into my full used oil catch pan. So I hand packaged the oil sample and mailed it myself, cost less than $4, had the results 4 days later. Don't know why.

Amsoil uses ( or at least they did, when I bought their kits) Polaris labs, even though the report won't say that. Things might have changed, but this was only a few years ago. The report also included oxidation, which isn't in the BS report. It was a reasonable price, I wasn't even a PC.

Send a PM to Pablo and get the Amsoil UOA stuff they sell.

Went the Amason route

$31 with tax Very good ratings.

Amsoil kit was $51
Read the reviews! The over 20% of 1 star. Yikes.

These are fakes reviews. Always take Amazon reviews with a grain of salt. IF you take the time to read the 1-star reviews, it's people complaining they basically didn't get the product they ordered. Long-time Amazon users will immediately recognize this as a situation where as a Prime member, you get refunded no questions asked. And in some cases, you might still get the oil analysis... for free.

I use Fakespot by Mozilla, and this company got an "A". In my experience, "A"s are incredibly hard to come by. I would not hesitate for a second to order from any company that receives an "A" from Fakespot's review authenticity detection.

You can't say they are all fake. Not sure you read the reviews at all. People sent in the sample, no results. Why did you think I didn't read them?

I have used Amazon Prime for years, and of course many of the high reviews are fake.

I use "Review Checker" and they still get a 4 star overall and the reviews are REAL.

But whatever, not worth fighting over, just the fact that you doubted what I wrote.

I absolutely read several of the 1-star reviews. I always do anytime I'm shopping there and I let Fakespot algorithms do the rest. It's a very robust piece of software and I highly recommend.

As I stated, a lot of the Amazon reviews are usually fake or can be discounted out of the sample set because in this case, each of those customers that complained they did not get their product means the item gets refunded no questions asked. Thus their going online to complain is at best, just that, a bunch of whining. At worst, it's a *fake* review.

Fake reviews are very real, to the point Amazon puts a disclaimer in the review section, even going so far as to state they will pursue legal action should they detect any.

If I don't receive an item (very rare), I don't piss and moan and waste my time reviewing. I just get my refund and move on.

Doubted what you wrote? All you wrote was "20% 1-star!" and I'm simply pointing out that is only 1% of the picture, for the aforementioned reasons. I would not hesitate to buy that product.
