Donaldson Filter for FL500S/FL2127?

Was browsing around Donaldson's website and noticed they appear to sell a filter for applications requiring either the FL500S or the FL2127, the P577066. Has anyone had any experience with these, or with Donaldson oil filters in general?

They don't give a 99% or 99.9% micron rating but they do claim 50% at 6 microns. Does anyone know how that stacks up against the PGI 99% at 20 micron filters?

Filters that are 99% @ 20u will typically be around 70-80% @ 5-6u.

Donaldson filters in general, the Donaldson Blue filters specifically, are held in very high esteem as far as build quality and filtering capabilities. WCW did a side by side cut and post of the Donaldson P577066 and Baldwin B7449, and IIRC, the glue was pretty sloppy in the Donaldson. Given the very high regard Donaldson is held in, I can't help but wonder if Donaldson has subcontracted production runs of certain filters that fall outside its main wheelhouse. Definitely not conclusive, but Google AI suggests this to be true. That said, one can get the B7449 locally for $5.99, and the P577066 for $6.99, so they're very similar price wise in the Atlanta area.

Hmmn, agreed that that doesn't look very good. Maybe I'll pick one up just for curiosity to disassemble and see if the new production stuff is any better.
