Some guy posted this in another forum about automatic transmissions:

"fyi....its not always a good idea to change auto tranny fluid very often..the cluth packs inside the tranny get worn and the material from the clutch packs gets in the fluid.....a lot of the time that crap in the fluid helps the clutchpacks....when u change it a lot it wears the clutch packs out a lot faster..."

Sounds like BS to me.
 
That's what I was thinking. But I've been told before that on older cars where the ATF has never been changed, that changing it could actually do harm to the transmission.
 
If it's so beneficial, why don't they just formulate transmission fluid with clutch material already in it? (Shake before pouring)

And then you go out and start the engine and attempt to move the vehicle and the fluid is so thick and oxidized that the vehicle won't move or the valves won't shift the pistons or bands.
