Hello everyone, longtime lurker first time poster here. A local shop in my area has recently began carrying “Kross Motor Oil”, a brand that I’ve never heard of and cannot seem to find any reviews on. It appears to be a Turkish brand and their oil does in-fact carry an API certification seal. Would you run it in your car?

They appear to carry other products as well and claim over 33 years of experience: https://kross.com.tr/

Yes it appears that technology yields an API SP licensed oil.
That API thing is a tad bit out of date but, hey, it's German technology AND their address is on Aromatik Street. What could go wrong?

edit: I did look them up and they do have current API through March 2026. I just found it funny for this to be on their main web page.

Funny enough I reread my post and even though it was typed wrong I still read it in my head as correct. Thanks for forcing me to see my mistake!
No thanks or apologies needed, as that is pretty much the norm for all humans!

As a standard protocol at work, we always had two other co-workers independently review our technical papers/procedures prior to publication due to "authorship tunnel-vision" (i.e., we tend to read things as we intended, not necessarily as they are actually written). I am grateful for the edit function on BITOG. ;)

I would assume that the API thing would mean that’s it’s an acceptable oil to run, no? The shop using it is reputable in the area and is known to do good work, I want to give the owners the benefit of the doubt that they aren’t using an oil that would destroy their customers engines. I do however assume that the owners got some sort of bulk deal.

Sure, if that is what you're looking for. I don't think I'd use it in an engine that lists a European approval or a guaranteed HT/HS.
