Does Sta-Bil have any lubricating effect?

I recently bought a Chonda-powered generator, and I've been adding Sta-Bil to the gas in case I don't use it for a while. I noticed that the Sta-Bil looks a lot like MMO, possibly a little thicker. MMO also advertises that it can be used as a fuel stabilizer, so I wonder if the Sta-Bil will produce a "top oil" effect like MMO?

Sta-Bil fuel treatment and stabilizer can do amazing things for a fuel system. I would not recomend ever putting that in motor oil. sounds like a really really bad idea

I think he meant as a "top end oil" not top off oil. I'm wondering this as well, since it does look like Marvel Mystery Oil. I've been using Sta-Bil in the fuel of my OPE as well. I started using it a year ago after pulling apart a carb on an engine that sat for a year with bad gas in it. The carb looked NASTY.

Marine (blue) Sta-bil was lube. Say it right on the front. It is also meant for ethanol, that is why I grab that one.

It always had me wondering too

I know the Marine formula definitely has some lubricity to it...but not sure about the standard Sta-Bil.....wouldn't doubt it though

Just note: MMO does not "advertise" their product as a stabilzer.....at least not on the bottle. But if you go to their site, MMO themselves have stated it does have some fuel stabilization effect(s) if the fuel is treated at the time of pumping.......I.E. it's not gonna "revive" old gasoline
