Bottom line use the weight oil that it says to use on your oil cap and in your owners manual... 0w20 with the api rating of sm or sn would be great..
I would use what they tell you just in case you have a problem with your engine and they try to wiggle out of fixing the problem.
We rebuild engines for a living and only use the oil that the original engine builders/designers say to use.

Why risk it?
That car is an expensive investment, and for a few bucks more get what the manufacturer requires. Car manufacturers have become MUCH more stringent when it comes to violations of warranty mostly because it hurts their bottom line, but in any case if you DIY oil and filter changes make sure you have those receipts just in case. Will you have a failure with another weight or type of oil, probably not, BUT if you do it will be a lot of hassle to get it sorted out if you use a non-approved oil type.

Many shops in So Cal charge $10-15 for changing oil and filter when customers have their own parts, nothing else. They may charge few dollars more if you ask them the check and top off vital fluids such as ATF, PSF ...

Wow, I can't even imagine- what kind of tech would even take a work order like that? If my service writer handed me a ticket for a 0.1 or not even a 0.2 hour job, that thing would go straight in the trash.
Maybe those shops are hoping to be able to look around under the hood as a loss-leader???
