Does anyone sell a 5w20 oil that is SL, not SM?

Red Line Oil (great stuff) is not licensed by API. It is not SM nor SL nor any thing else.

Johnny, quit obsessing over the zinc content in the oil. Do some research on the ILSAC GF-4 Sequence III-G engine test. It is a tougher test than ever. And, as you've been told before, SM does not set max zinc limits...GF-4 sets the limits. In addition, any engine spec'ed for 5W-20 will run several hundred thousand miles on SM & GF-4 5W-20 without problems. More is not better.

Surprised nobody picked up on this... I too believe all Royal Purple oils are still SL rated. Added Zinc, plus a shot of Magnesium.

RP 0wX oils and 5w40 are SM.

However, every other RP street oil is SL.

It takes a special kind of moron that wants a purple color oil in their car anyway. Who are they trying to impress? Money would be better spent on a high quality hand wax job for the exterior. Just use Mobil 1 and pocket the difference. I use Pennzoil 5w30 and get 36 mpg highway - 4000 OCI and ZERO oil consumption between changes.

If you have someone change your oil for you, you can easily tell if they swap it out for cheaper oil. Some crooked shops have been caught doing this. With Royal Purple oil, or Brad Penn, or even the old German Castrol you could easily pull your dipstick and see if you were cheated or not. That would be a benefit to a funky colored oil instead of the usual amber or tan color.
