Does anyone mix their own antioxidant?

Sorry, I am guilty of hijacking a thread. I will start a new thread based on my post above in "Car and Truck Gas Engine Oil," titled, "What Viscosity Really Matters." Please respond there.

Meanwhile, to get back on track, there is an interesting product Powerservice Diesel Lube Oil Extender that I believe has antioxidant and also zddp. There is a VOA on this site and some threads, and I don't see why it could not be used in gas engines.

Bruce, that is exactly the message that has been relayed to me from numerous sources that are deep in the oil formulation industry. Quality oils with reasonable drain intervals will keep engines running at designed specifications until the vehicle becomes obsolete.

But it's still fun to experiment and mess around with things that I don't really know much about. As a quote from this bulletin board used to say:

"research is what I'm doing when I don't know what I'm doing"... and no truer words have been spoken.

Anyway contact Ciba and ask about synergy with the L-57 and there other AO's believe me on this the combo of 2 AO's at .5% will do better than one alone at 2-3%. You will see lower evaporation and higher TBN retention and longer Oxidation life perhaps 2-3 times better.

I would start with L-57 but add in a Phenolic too.
