My neighbour has a Ram and it's his second one no issues with the Hemi and he runs 5w20 Dealer bulk. The last one was in an accident but it made it about 200K. It has MDS as well.

I had a 2009 RT Challenger with MDS and had zero issues as well

20" wheels and HID headlights. (We own two of them)

Also consider trailer tow; gets you fullsize spare, L/S rear, rear leveling suspension and transmission cooler.

By the way, the Durango is essentially a long wheelbase GC. Same exact running gear with exception to 3.0L Eco diesel and 6.4L

GC and Durango are not in same category: 2 row vs 3 row.

GC considered a premium offering over Durango; just look at the prices of the higher trim levels.
Only 1 trim level without leather in GC; 2 trim levels without leather in Durango.

At any rate, both benefit from the legacy engineering shared with ML350 from the Chrysler/Mercedes marriage, which is why they ride so well.

Good summation, though I'm curious as to your critique of the HID's, I'm quite fond of my auto-levelling ones

Bolded for correction: you can get the 6.4 in a new Durango. As cool as the SRT8 GC is, I would plunk down the money on the Durango SRT. It looks better, rides better with the longer wheelbase, and has more cargo room. Plus you can get the "lightweight package" which deletes the 3rd row all together.

Were there a bad batch of some of these engines with lifters ticking? Maybe. Is this a system wide problem that Chrysler now FCA is sweeping under the carpet? I highly doubt it or we would have class action lawsuits.

Folks forget the PentaStar had a bad batch of cylinder heads as well and their response was to fix them and to revise the heads for models going forward to ensure it doesn't happen again. They stand to loose a lot if the PentaStar isn't right as do they with the Hemi RAM's. But I digress, folks will believe what they want to because of a few stories online which you know... It's highly verified.

I like the V6 over the hemi for many reasons.
As you noted it has been revised and has a great record in police use.
Seems pretty frugal in big vehicles and is easy to service.
I wonder when the eTorque system will show up in these models.

I remember my 1981 Eagle Sport with the vibration over 60 mph and leaky valve cover.
Oh boy!!!

Fiat could resurrect the slant six. It wouldn't be the same though unless it died doing left hand turns like the old versions did.

Where's the guy that always complains about his 1964 Dart?

I've had a number of Chryslers and all served me well. Relevant to this thread, my 2015 Jeep GC with the 3.6 served me well. Put 70k on it in 3 years with no issues other than a leaky LF strut that was fixed under warranty. Had the original tires and brakes on it when I sold it, all I changed was the oil, air and cabin filters.

If I were in the market for an SUV of that size, I'd be far more inclined to look at the Pilot or CX-9 or Tahoe or Traverse or Yukon or Sante Fe or pretty much anything but the Durango.

And if I was looking for a mini-van (

) I would look no further than the Odyssey.

I'm not a big FCA fan, but calling them junk? Eh, I guess we all have opinions, but junk? I don't know that I'd go that far. Especially if you haven't had one.

While they've been less than stellar in my family and have needed extra attention, they're ok I guess.

The mindless bias of some folks is amusing.

I own an FCA from August of 05, 110k miles, still runs like a bear and is one of the best cars I ever purchased since my first in 1972. I also have a 14 RAM with nearly 80k miles that has been flawless.

Only folks who believe everything they read on the Internet spew this weird hate for Mopar, and most of them do not own one.

There's one problem with the Durango. Try to find one (at least here) used at a sensible price. I guess that does speak to their reliability and people wanting to hold onto them.

Good to know. The price needs to be about $5k less on a mid range trim and I think in the USA
It would take over. It's truck like, a good towing vehicle, and has good mpg's
I prefer the truck look over the current egg trend.

My dad had it in his Dodge Full Size van and it was a great engine. Made it 1/2 a million before the timing chain let go. No issues turning left.

Each to his own. My 18 JL has been perfect, and my JK is going strong after 11 years and 126k miles. My dealership, their service, and support of a lifetime powertrain warranty on the JK has been outstanding.

Agreed - the wifes 2014 GC Overland has been completely trouble free and just hit 95k miles......no issues. My 2017 RAM Limited just hit 39k miles and not a single issue yet. The FCA vehicles have the best interiors than the competition.
