Hello all,

Anyone have any experience or knowledge on the Dodge Charger Hellcat? More concerned about reliability (Dodge). Sounds like they had supercharger bearing issues...but seems to have been fixed. Thanks.

IHI generally makes a quality product. But anything mass produced can have problems, as not every single part is painstakingly inspected.

At any rate I've only heard of ONE supercharger possibly having a bad bearing. But, then I'm also not following news of the Hellcats that closely.

My neighbour just moved in before Christmas and he uses his Hellcat as a daily driver, 75 miles round trip to work.
Sounds positively evil - in a good way. Super sleeper with the Hellcat fender logos and Brembos as the tell tales.
Never mentioned an issue with it when we were admiring it.

The Demon is a different kind of car. Deliberately compromised in every way (ride, handling, equipment, tires, etc.) just to get a faster time at the drag strip.

At least the Hellcat can turn and stop and do normal-car things, sort of.

Thanks. Looking to be fun car / split daily driver. 8 speed transmission seems pretty reliable from what I read.

Overkill had one for about a year iirc. And traded it in on a Hellcat Grand Cherokee. He had positive things to say about it but wanted the winter and trail capabilities of the GC iirc.

There's a Hellcat blog out there where you can get some more answers from actual owners. I went there to find out here their used oil analysis were looking on the 0w-40 oils.

Yes, thanks. Been to that site. Looks like a nice setup...plus I still need 4 doors (have kids).

AFAIK, he had an SRT, not Hellcat.

I'd like to test drive an SRT, but the closest one to me is about 100 miles away. Ugh...

Thanks and yes that does sound correct now that you mention it. Hard to keep them all straight.

Correct. I've had some seat time in a Hellcat but never owned one. I am anxiously awaiting the GJC or Durango version when it eventually comes out however

I keep seeing posts here questioning Chrysler reliability, but I've had very good service from Dodge. Ford was the only questionable car (Ford Ranger truck) I ever had. Everyone makes a lemon now and then.

I've got the Scat Pack in the 2-door Challenger. I love the 8-speed auto. Super fast shifts, it works very well, I don't have any desire to even paddle shift. It's going to the dealer for a freon leak from the AC compressor and a maladjusted right door latch. I'm happy to deal with a few issues for the package the car offers.
