A physical therapy doctor here in town burned alive inside a hyperbaric oxygen chamber the other day. It apparently caught fire somehow, and blazed up, killing him. From what I've been reading, this isn't the first time this type of thing has happened with these devices.
Things that might just smolder in a normal atmosphere, burn rapidly in a pure oxygen environment. This is a similar thing that happened with the Apollo 1 fire.
You would think these things would have some type of built in safety sensors, that would dump the pressure, and add CO2 in the event of a fire. Poor guy. I have a pretty hard time trying to think of a worse way to go than becoming a human Shish-Ka-Bob.
