do you use a bag in your shop vac?

I use my 5 gallon shop vac the most and keep a bag in it. Bags are way too much money for what they are but I don’t go through more than one in a year. So far I haven’t found any deal on the web.

In the house yes, not in the shop.

I normally use a 30' pool vacuum hose. I leave the shop vac outside connected to an extention cord plugged in inside.

I can plug it in when needed and there's no noise or potential dust in whatever space you're working in. Plus you don't need to lift the vacuum into places like a boat, loft, or other inconvenient spaces.

Check https://www.thinkcrucial.com/collections/bags for bags that fit your model. I have bought many parts from crucial over the years and they have always worked well.

Thanks. I’ll give them a call. Really good pricing and an actual phone number. I see they have free shipping within the USA and pre-paid returns. I’ll check out if they ship to Canada. Once the border opens up again I can have them ship to Eureka, Montana, where I take advantage of free US shipping.

I do if inside, and I still end up coughing. That reminds me I left my shop vac filter out to dry on the fence about ten months ago.

Wouldn't a bag make more of a mess when vacuuming up water or wet carpet among other things?
Yes. The bag is for dry stuff only. A lot easier to remove the bag and filter to do wet, then dump it, dry the tub, and replace the bag and filter afterward, than it is to clean out a mix of dust, dirt, and wet stuff.
