Do you think it’s ok to touch cars of others?

I won't deliberately touch a "nice" car eg one that's at a car show, or even seen a car wash within the last two weeks.

I might touch the car next to mine in a parking lot for balance or to help thread the carriage through without damaging anyone's anything. Similarly if I were looking to cross a street with parallel parked cars I might put a hand on a fender to use body language to symbolize to a driver that I plan to wait for them to pass.
In the old days we would gently tap cars when parallel parking. Carefully. It was unavoidable with tight parking and no cams.

I sent my buddy the pic and he said who would even take the time to leave a note and what for lol

I took my old 1963 Chevy truck to a local classic car show last summer and was dismayed that people would open the door and hop in to check it out as if it was on a used car lot.

I know! Dad took the Lincoln in my sig to car shows, and people apparently found the pushbutton door handles fascinating. They would open the doors and the trunk, even while dad was standing next to it. He finally had to lock them to discourage that.

Again crazy….

In a new car showroom sure, fine…but not at a car show…

At 19 I did something stupid.

“Please do not touch the guitars. Ask for help.”

I reached for a sweet Martin and it fell.

“Is that going to be MasterCard or Visa,” said the salesman.

Edit this was the store, now defunct

I may touch other people's cars with my knuckles when opening my door because I wrap my fingers around the door's edge for protection.

I almost took my Biscayne to a car show with finger paints to encourage kids to decorate it in its parking space, thus blowing away the "old cars are precious" trope. That thing, in its unrestored condition, I'd have been fine with people sitting in. But every car show entrant gets a "don't touch" sign they can put on their vehicle somewhere and people should honor it.

What bothers me about situations like this is, how does that person know you are not parked slightly over the line because the previous guy in front of you wasn't also.

Civility and giving people the benefit-of-the-doubt has given way to knee-jerk reactions based on assumptions.

Nobody should ever touch your property without consent.

Your park job was in no way bad enough to justify anybody getting upset especially with the end spot having more room anyhow.

I'll also just say that not having a front plate requirement is very sensible and preferred. Getting pulled over simply for not having a front plate or window tint that is too dark in Texas is really ridiculous especially when the cops are allowed to have the darkest tint available but the public can't is an above the law attitude I cannot accept especially in an area that so hot.

Never without permission, but that is how I was raised and it baffles me how some folks are with other people's property.

I remember a trip to the local GA airport (pre 911 days) on a cloudy day, it was quiet, and seeing a woman letting her offspring play amongst AND ON the airplanes....we had words.

I’m over it but what did irk me, is my wiper arm DOES NOT lift up. Dunno why other than its arm is like that of an RV. The blade swivels as it goes to the edge. The the person yanked on it and found it didn’t come up, but it was no longer tucked away as normal. That’s all….

We took our Viper to a car show. Never again. It was hours of asking people to look with their eyes, not their hands.

Someone mentioned coming out of a store, to find some moron sitting on their motorcycle. I've had that interaction a couple times. The morons thought I was unreasonable...

Common sense is NOT common.

To the OP, Class Envy is strong with the mindset that would leave little cowardly notes. They probably saw your brand of vehicle, and went ballistic in their tiny, angry, cowardly, jealous little mind.

Viper is exotic and I can see why people want to touch it.

What year Viper ?

It’s 100% wrong to touch another guy’s car or woman…..

☺️

But passing the buck is fair?

If your chosen parking spot is too small because someone intrudes into it, maybe push the intruding vehicle rather than pass on the problem to the next person. That's appropriate vigilantism. Let fisticuffs and Judge Judy sort it out later. Or you could look for another space.

I wouldn't worry about it too much if someone lifts up my wiper to leave a note. I've had a message where I got contact information after someone dented the door, but I didn't care since that just added to a large collection of dents. Obviously parking enforcement is legally allowed to leave citations.

I guess the problem around here is leaving flyers and business cards. I especially hate it when they're tucked in a window seal, where they can slip through.
