Do you often use store brand/minor brand oils

For my Escape, I like the Valvoline that's in there now but it'll probably just end up with O'Reilly brand synthetic next time around, just because I can get it immediately vs going to Walmart which is a bit of a drive. At the end of the day in a naturally aspirated Ford engine it's not going to matter what brand of oil I put in there. Now, if it was an EcoBoost or BMW I'd be a little pickier, but even then, with my 7500 mile OCIs it probably doesn't matter.

I prefer SOPUS products personally but if I was in a pinch/broke -- would not lose any sleep using Super Tech Synthetics or Smittys Super S Blend at reasonable OCIs.

The must have bought SOPUS's older container tooling.. Lol

Not allowed to oil change in my condo and besides I'm well over 70, so I might not anyway--found $25 MaxLife with tire rotation thrown in. When I changed my own oil it was usually ST, sometimes used Sears Spectrum if it was on sale (which if memory serves me right was also WPP). If I was changing my oil today I'd probably go with Harvest King syn. Tremendous value there. If I could find some of that China Coal that would be used for everything, including coffee creamer. Get it before the trade war starts

If I was going to extend my OCI, I probably would feel better with PYB or GTX since they probably exceed the standard rather than just meeting it...I'm not saying this applies to all 'name brand' dinos.....

You can use conventional for only 5K OCIs.

No. It can only be purchased at Walmart so it's a store brand. Doesn't matter if it's made by a big name company and packaged for WM either. If that were the case, Dollar General oil, various gas station oils, and so on could be called name brand oils.

I've used many brands, generally the least expensive major or minor brand that met current applicable specs. Store brands have included W.T.Grant, Sears (made by Warren Oil), Advance (multiple sources), Rural King (by Warren Oil), Walmart (by WPP), and probably several others.

Been a long time. Mainly with rebates and sales fully socked with top brands. 2 Mobil 1 and Pennzoil rebates for 8 5 quart jugs. 6 Shell jugs on sale at Home Depot. Oh and the Milesyn that Amazon had on sale. Two cases in the closet. Maybe one day.

I use/have used Super Tech off and on for some years ... my engines never sound any different compared to other brands I've tried.

Although I do try to buy PP, Edge and M1 when on clearance.

ZZ how do you come up with these topics??

I have to give you credit for coming up with topics that get a lot of responses. You do a good job with that.

So I am not totally against running different oils. In fact I am going to get some Coastal 30 grade and run it in the lady's Camry in the next run in it.

I usually use M1-but only because I got a good deal (AR, closeouts, or BOTH!), but I have no problem with house brand oil in my & family beaters as long as I know who made it (preferably WPP, Warren, or Citgo). Not sure I would trust that China Coal oil very far!

100% agree. Buying smart makes all the difference in oil and in most other items as well. Buy two major brand premium quality 5 quart jugs for $24x2 and get $10 x 2 rebate. I do this twice a year and I have all the high end premium oil I need at bargain basement price.

2/5 Qt Valvoline super duper for 50$ del. 10 OEM Camry filters 35 del. With a 10 pk of washers thrown in.! Beats shopping at AZ. BMWs got a steady diet of STP filters and cheap 20w50. Rat 's oil has less than 2K on it. When buying store brands , look for meets or exceeds in the boiler plate on the label. You're set.
