Do you often use store brand/minor brand oils

Nope never had the desire to when I can get quality brands I trust for a few bucks more and don't have to question them.

*Hysterical !! ... Watch for "Happy Sun" Synthetic Oil - Make Engine Love Long Time ...To hit WM shelves soon (lol) .

I don't actually use that (its mainland).

I'd bet its OK and I like the viscosity range, but the specs a bit recent for me.

I use this stuff, which isn't store/minor either.

About a year ago I purchased 24 quarts of NAPA synthetic 5W-30 , but currently still using up other synthetics ( for the Sonic ) and dino oil ( for the Lacrosse ) in my stash . So , have not started on the NAPA oil , yet .

Order the Sonic cartridge filters on sale from RockAuto . Have only changed oil on the Lacrosse once , with dino oil & Extra Guard from Walmart .

In the past when I was young and money was an issue, I did use store brands (Flag, NAPA, Kragen, etc) of motor oil, and I made sure it had the API and starburst symbols that met the requirements for my vehicle. And the correct viscosity of course. This is the basic requirement -- it meets the specs, it is safe to use, and I was never worried about using the store brands. Now that money is not an issue, I use name brands of oil, usually Mobil 1 under the annual rebate which ends up being a ridiculously low price for a top-rated oil. A real no-brainer.

It varies. For me, the product, it's certifications and/or specs speak for itself, and actual brand is left to consequence.
**Obviously the 'City Stars' and other fly-by-night 'spent solvents in a bottle' are totally worthless and are not even considered in the question

tl:dr- would NEVER choose an oil based on brand alone, but will avoid by brand; I haven't touched an Exxon product in over a decade

100% agree. Buying smart makes all the difference in oil and in most other items as well. Buy two major brand premium quality 5 quart jugs for $24x2 and get $10 x 2 rebate. I do this twice a year and I have all the high end premium oil I need at bargain basement price.

Yep, when you can buy oil made by integrated producers for less than the store brand stuff, then why wouldn't you?
This is my strategy, although any store brand API SN would be fine for the drain intervals most here seem to favor as well as the applications most have. Also, any dexos licensed oil is pretty decent stuff.
Is there a difference between store brands and name brands that can be quantified?
There is and you see it in the CCV/MRV and NOACK numbers, happily provided for most oils by PQIA.
