Do you ever see 80s or 90s American cars on the road?

Very rarely do I see an 80s vehicle to take notice of in NJ. I'm sure I see 90s but don't take notice of them. My in-laws still have their 96 Corolla as their only vehicle. It's getting old, though and they are thinking of trading it in.

See them all the time down here, but living on a scenic route may have something to do with that.

(BTW, we ALL float down here! 🎈)

Many cars of the 80's and 90's they made tons of so you would expect to still see some examples of on the road, but don't. Chevy Celebrity, Cavalier or Citation. Dodge Omni and Aries. Ford Escort and Tempo. Sure they were disposable appliances, but I see more air cooled VW's than any of those.

Those have to be the most awful cars ever made.

I saw what I would guess to be around a 1980-1982 model Chevrolet Chevette yesterday. Living in Georgia affords a person the ability to keep cars for a very long time without the rust and deterioration caused by road chemicals.

A few years ago I saw a mint condition 1991Chevy Beretta that looked like the owner vacuum bagged it then stuck it in an unlit climate controlled crate. It was immaculate and completely original.

Some vehicles being saved from the 80's are the Camaros, Firebirds and Mustangs. Most of them are fairly ratty, with bad paint. The 90's versions of these vehicles will probably be collector items some day if someone takes them out of the daily traffic stream and restores them. The performance came back in the 90's make them collectable. IMHO. ;)

My 89 and 94 Camaros still see the road when its nice out. Still plenty of 90s GM and Ford trucks around in my area that I see every day, most are still daily drivers like my brother's 97 Chevy K1500. Definitely don't see the Fox body Mustangs hardly at all anymore though, they were everywhere when I was in high school. Used to love smoking them with my 94 Camaro.
