Do you clean your door jambs?

Not only the door jams, but the underside of the doors, the inside edges of the trunk, and inside the wheel wells.

You'd be surprised how much gunk is inside the wheel wells just sitting against painted metal. [I don't care about dirt on the plastic wheel well liners.] You won't find it on all cars, it's not a problem on my BMW for example, but it definitely is on my Honda. Corrosion from chronic gunk seems to be a problem on light duty trucks too as they often rust just above the rear wheel wells. If you want to check for gunk, curl your fingers around the upper edge of your rear wheel wells - can you touch metal, is it clean or not?

I thoroughly rinse the wheel wells every wash.

Usually I clean the door jambs. Did a quick wash of the caravan last night to get all the pollen off and didn't bother with door jambs last night. I'll get to it the next time I wash it.

I only do a full detail 2 times a year on my car and the jambs are included. I wash our car the minimum amount needed throughout the year and will wipe down dirty jambs if they catch my eye. Dirty dress dragging on the jamb, LOL?? My wife has to worry about the farm manure from the muck boots!

I, too, used to be married to my personal possessions and I still take care of my stuff MUCH more than most others I associate with. I know that feeling of having everything pristine and perfect in ones life and can appreciate why others spend so much mental effort trying to achieve it. It is such a blessing to give up that monster and take the middle road. Sorry for the rant.

And wax/seal paint in concealed spaces every year or so.

I only wash my car once a month tops, and I'll do the door jams every other time too. I just use the wet rag I used to wipe down the interior.

Yes I clean my door jambs, and the channels in the trunk/hatch and under the hood.

Sure do... every time I wash the car I wipe the entire door jam area down, bottom of the doors and now/then use Slick Mist on those areas to minimize grunge buildup and seemingly helps keep all the weather stripping in shape. I also use a high quality synthetic oil on all hinge points, door/hatch latch/lock mechanisms every few months to keep things super smooth and minimize wear.

I give them an occasional wipe down with quick detailer and a microfiber towel.

About twice a year I clean them and give them a coat of Griots 3 in 1 Ceramic.

That makes no sense. There is no social expectation for a Mechanic’s vehicle to be dirty.

I agree. It just feels right. My vehicles are filled with shop towels and tools and car related stuff like parts on the inside. I don’t allow messes like something getting all over it. On the outside it’s good.

Once a year in the spring or early summer when I handwash/wax/detail the vehicles when all the snow is gone. Having a light layer of dust doesn't bother me as I am getting older.

In my twenties, I was more obsessive in driving in a sparkling car when going on dates, etc. After marriage and two kids, spilling food and drinks all over, changed my view on cleanliness in my thirties as priorities shift.

It all gets thoroughly cleaned at every wash. I make sure to get deep in the grooves of the door seals and dry the painted surfaces under the seals, where I can get the microfiber under them. Grunge buildup under seals and on the bottoms of doors is abrasive and a rust starter.
