Do we have a newly appointed moderator here?

I don't mean to be rude here...but the current "non-political" off-topic section is already political and nasty every single day.
So in reality...we already have that. My suggestion was both a solution and an outlet.

WHY do you feel compelled to have a political "outlet" on an OIL site??
21.gif

As was mentioned many times already there are PLENTY of right wing sites for you to go on and eviscerate those 'd***ed librals' to your heart's content, and get high fives and pats on the back for doing so quite vehemently (even though that very thing already happens on here do to the prevailing worldview of this site).

Same goes for hard core left wingers as well, for those so inclined.

Yes...it is an oil site. With sub-forums on...Humor, Photography, Firearms, Bicycles, and Electronics. So??

Why are you so freaked out about the idea of one??

I've explained my opinion very clearly why I think it would work...for both parties. Members that want a more politically free off-topic section could have that forum....and those that aren't afraid to discuss politics could feel free to express themselves in a political sub-forum.

I really don't understand your phobia. You seem so flaked out by just the mention of a political forum that you become almost unhinged. You DO realize that even IF one such forum was added to this site...YOU DON'T HAVE TO CLICK ON IT? Nobody would force you to enter the discussion. So...I think your attitude is rather odd to say the least.

You've already acknowledged that the current off-topic section has all kinds of political discussions going on almost daily, right? So why not provide an outlet for people (not just "right wingers") that don't mind heated discussions of a political nature....and have the mods STRICTLY enforce the off-topic section as a politically free one? You have nothing to lose.

But...as Ive said before...I am simply expressing my opinion and have no say what structure this site has. It was simply an idea that in my opinion makes good sense.

I am, and it seems to be. I like a challenge.

I would give it a try...and if I found the environment to be too overwhelming, then I would just not go into it. It's not like I wouldn't have a choice. Right now, when I see topics in the off-topic section that tend to make my temper boil...I just avoid getting involved.

I'm really not "eager/anxious" for a political forum as you say. It was just an idea I had to provide one for the reasons I stated. I probably wouldn't bother to venture into one all that much.

Racism and elitism are not explicitly prohibited in BITOG hence the overabundance of it.

As for conservative v. progressive... Conservatives openly embrace racism and elitism as a pivot for their ideology and that's the reason that it seems that this forum is conservative.

That's an idiotic statement. It's a narrative pushed by those with an agenda to destroy the other side.

Racist and elitist policies are consistently and openly pushed by BOTH sides. Why is it only one side gets called on it?

Because they're the ones with the media in their pocket, that's why. And the stupid sheep masses buy the nonsense hook, line, and sinker.

FFS just look at the nonsense that's happening at Mizzou as an example. Student from rich family stages fake hunger strike bemoaning white privilege and forces resignations. If that's not being a total hypocritical dirtbag, I don't know what is.

Excellent post!

Agree with you there Pop....liking watching kids on the playground.

In honestly though, I think you do need a few more mods though. I really think Helen, Bill, Kestas and the others have their hands full at times.

I think people forget this is just the internet, and get offended by everything on it.....

Oil brings us together, lack of respect just tears us apart....

You are the ONLY one I have ever blocked on this site, and you know the reason why. See my previous comments here in this post.

I called you out on your [censored] comments, and you couldn't handle it. I'm not sure if I'm honored or disappointed at being the only one you've blocked. The fact remains, you're comment about being open to criticism is just another hypocritical post of yours.

Can I use the above as a sig line??

Haha or "oil brings us together but keeps us separated via hydrodynamic oil film"

I would say that too much politics creates hard feelings that spill into other threads. I try to keep my debates and arguments compartmentalized, but it's much better to avoid that pitfall altogether. Vowel and I drive each other nuts about lots of conspiracy related things, but we're able to get along fine on just about everything else. That's the exception, and not the rule, when it comes to board conflicts.

I'm trying to lure him into a false sense of security. It's part of a big conspiracy.

I'm with you there. You got a $20K to $50K car, you got a political bumper sticker, and instead of placing it on the rear glass, where it can easily be removed, you put it on the PAINT. How STUPID can a person be?

A little heat and it comes off. A little gasoline and the remnant adhesive is off. You'd never know. Besides, he may not consider himself a curator of a rare car, eligible for Pebble Beach.

But that car looks like it's around a 2003 model year, so its resale value has to do with if it starts and runs, not on stickers and paint quality. The G20 is the same chassis as the Nissan Sentra, so it's slipped down into "beaterdom".

Goo Gone or brake cleaner will also take the sticker right off.

^^^ I wouldn't use brake cleaner on paint! Goo-Gone or WD-40 would be the best actually. Wax the paint after cleaning of course.

I've had a thread closed down. However, I think the mods do a good job here. They manage to keep topics on target and eliminate "riff raff".

How can you, of all people be upset for having post reported?

How many times have you talked about how important it is for society to follow the rules? You've said that punishment for those that can't follow the rules should be swift and harsh.

You've told us the story about how the dealership manager did something wrong, and you reported him to corporate.(mommy or daddy) You tell the story like you're a hero for reporting his wrong doing.

How can you be upset for another member holding you to the same standards you insist others follow? What ever you posted was severe enough that it got you banned. You were in the wrong, and from your comment above, you act like you're the victim.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but you seem to be ignoring your own moral standards. Who ever reported you, was simply taking your advice and holding you accountable to the rules.
