Today my Walmart finally had ST7317's in stock so I got one. It has that new bypass with the blue thing in it. What surprised me though was that the box says the single pass efficiency is 98% and the multi-pass is 99%. Thats as good as a Pureone. Are they just using those efficiency rates from larger particles or is it really that good of a deal at $2.07? The tests they used are SAE HS806 and J1858. Also does anybody know anything about the new bypass? Thanks.

Those numbers don't really tell you anything.
99% of what particle size? 20 micron? 50 micron?

How long does it usually take Champ Labs to reply? I emailed them 12:00 AM on Wednesday and I still haven't had a reply yet.

I think FG did a particle count in his ST when he sent in his filter for testing. That should give you an idea of the beta rating.
At 6.5k miles it had a 20um reading of 700 ..so that would put it well below the performance of PureOne and Wix/NAPA Gold.

and how I applied my "pulled out of my arse" method of comparison to my PureOne results...
the left is my pureone and the right Dave's ST (indexed for mileage)

>15 mu = 66, 100
>25 mu = 15, 24
>50 mu = 1,
>100 mu = 0.
So, I'd say you can rate (depending on the soundness of my thinking here -always in question) that whatever the beta rating of a PureOne ..you can go 150% in particle size. That is, if PureOne had/has a beta20=2 ..then I'd say the ST is beta30=2
