Do former Navy Seals typically brag about it a lot

Times change, but some human behaviors don't. My dad was a heavy mochine gunner in a weapons company during WW2 in New Guinea and the Philippines. When he came home about all used up in 1945, his old pre-service buddies wanted him to join the VFW/Legion. He'd commented that of his 'crowd' of 10-12 guys, he was the only one who saw combat and a number never left Conus. It was about the same sitting at the bar in the clubs and he was some grumbly with all the bar stool chat as he could easily identify the pretenders. He never did join either.

Does he have a full beard, wear a camo baseball hat and Oakleys, maybe wear some kind of scarf around his neck, and drive a big [censored]-extension of a truck? You have your answer.

You literally described my work attire, LOL!

I look totally different at home, but out here 5.11, Oakleys, a beard, and a shemagh... It is what it is.

Claims to now be a military contractor who trains SEALS and other special forces. [censored] meter tends to peg when I hear that as well.

I worked with a guy who was a SEAL. As others have mentioned, you just know, and if you're unsure, they won't say anything unless they're asked.

Go to any place that serves cheap hot coffee before 8AM and look around at all the guys well into their 80's. Most of them fought in at least one major war and almost none of them talk about it, it's not something they want to brag about but it's something they did.

My grandpa spent 2 years in a POW camp after being shot in Italy, only time he ever talked about the war was after a few drinks if someone else brought something up.

Mentions China Lake and 29 Palms, etc. Going on deployments to train and etc.

I always thought the real deal didn't go around boasting telling any nearby female who will listen.

Seems like a real braggart and I know most former special forces soldiers aren't usually that way, and instead exhibit a quiet and confident demeanor.

Not a SEAL.

Our one main parts wizard/runner and oil and air filter maniac is a ex SEAL and lives near me. Would do anything for anybody and he's talked to me about what he saw. He helps me volunteer at the local food bank too

Ex Seal lived down the street from us for years. He was just a nice, soft spoken guy, with well behaved kids.

Had an ex SOG do gunsmithing for me. Another un-assuming good guy to be around.
