Your dentist (or any other provider) treats you like a commodity because you allow it.
Well, I don't, really. I haven't been back. I'll use them when a cap breaks loose or I have an emergency ..otherwise I'm into the typical mass extraction at the 60+/- year mark. I can't afford dental care in the 21st century. I don't see my doctor either. My wife's insurance is good, but the costs are too high for services rendered.
A friend just had her arm broken. She went to the E.R. ($500 in managed real money) and a $100 copay. They put on an air cast and told her to call the orthopedic surgeon on Monday ..which, if he's already crowded at his practice, will tell her to go to the E.R. where they will, again, attempt to get $500/$100 from her for walking in ..while he uses their space since he's already booked solid.
My dentist ..make that THE dentist will have to live with less revenue. I did REALLY tell her that this business model was about a decade too late. Now is the time to retreat to the traditional practice.
Thank goodness dental care isn't like health care. They can't hold you hostage to shake down your wallet. You can just lose your teeth.
