Dentist Post Op

A year ago, I had 2 middle upper right molars give up the ghost. Marina pressured me to go to the emergency room. I got antibiotics and percocets I found an oral surgeon who made an appointment for me to come back when the fever dropped. Jaw infections are no joke they told me. It is a sinus or two away from from your brain. I was high for 3 days on percs, I was also taking them to recover from some minor elbow surgery. I forgot about not fasting , so I washed my morning meds down with a cup of black coffee. No knock out boyo. Novacain It didnt matter. Percs make me not care a rodent's hindquarters about anything. Whatever. Do it . The dentist was built stocky. Big shoulders and arms. A few minutes of struggling and we had the teeth out. It was a group effort. I fight illness actively. I was exhausted from pulling back against the forceps. It was worth it, the infection went down in 24 hrs. If the infection is still there after 2 weeks than I would be seeing another dentist. .

Yes, some people go to Jiffy Lube only when the oil warning light is on.
But having said that, when there is No money, there is NO MONEY!
The cost of seeing a Dentist in Canada is pretty outrageous, in the U.S. (from what I have seen) it's even worse.

Too bad when it ends with people going to the ER (and possibly costing even more) or living with pain and/or bad or missing teeth, because of a lack of affordable Dental treatment.

Good for you. Now, how does this help OP in his current situation?

Is there a Dental collage in your area?
It may be possible to get the treatment you need at a reduced rate.

So we make another trip to the ER friday night, get more pain meds. While there my GF actually asked the dr if they could just rip the bone out and they wouldn't even touch it saying it looked bad and she needed to see the dentist.
.....

What's the standard of care for an Emergency Room physician in Florida?

Doesn't the hospital have a list of dentists with hospital privileges and an on call in the event of a dental issue at the ER?

They do, or at least they used to, around here.

Not sure, but she said the pain is bearable now. So if it continues into next week, she's getting them to grind the bone down.

I'm not a dentist, but I've been to one probably 80 times in my life. I've had a couple teeth pulled. I cannot figure out how a simple tooth extraction could end up with some sort of bone protruding from the gums that needs to be grinded down. Am I the only one to whom this makes absolutely no sense?

More then likely, a part of the tooth crumbled during extraction and wasnt removed. And her jawbone is pushing it out.

That's what it sounds like to me. I guess it depends if the tooth came out in one piece or it was broken during the extraction.

I've been lucky enough through 3 extractions (2 were wisdom teeth). I go to a guy that looks like an olympic heavyweight wrestler. His procedure has been 1) put hand on chest and place entire body weight on top of me and 2) 1.5 seconds later he's done. The guy it truly talented.
