Who knows how long that filter was sitting around on how many shelves in what sort of conditions. It isn't Purolator's fault, that's why they sent you to the retailer.
I’m not saying it’s their fault it is in this condition but the customer support response is.
“ I would not recommend that you install the filter, they do not leave the factory in this condition. You need to return the filter to where you purchased it from.
