Any thoughts on products available for rustproofing/undercoating? For those of us in the North, its getting to be that time of year. I want to stay away from the "rubberized" compounds that crack after a few years. Amsoil had a product at one time that came in a gallon container that was ok; now I think its in a spray can. I'm looking for larger quantities. Any thoughts?

What's the application? Automotive only? Can it be sacrificial, like anodizing? Does it need to be water-tight or is that just part of the rust-prevention?

Have you considered something like POR-15?

I hear its some pretty tough stuff. I'm not sure if its what you're looking for since rust isnt much of a problem around here.

Yes, this would be for automotive use. Salt up here can really do a number on autobodies.

As for the POR-15, I have used it and its a great product for existing rust; I'm trying to prevent it in the first place.

I have a few cans of zinc cold galvanizing spray paint which I was thinking of spraying in key places under the car (over the undercoating and existing rust - it would be ridiculous to try to clean all that off.) I figure it couldn't hurt anything.

I've tried sacrificial magnesium metal in places with less success than I thought I'd get.
