Went to see this movie Saturday with my sister and a couple of her friends. For a bunch of no-names being in it, it was a pretty good movie. It started slow, but eventually it picked up. Main character came across as a d-bag in the beginning. It was really graphic though, probably just a little below Dark Knight in that department.

Who watched this and what do you think? The ending seemed like they left it open for a possibility of a sequel. Think they will make one with the aliens returning?

I loved it, I must disagree, it was way more violent than Dark Knight, cant remember the body count but it was up there. Coming soon District 10.

I'm sitting here in the office and all my co-workers are raving about it. Those who have seen it seem to think it is not appropriate for children due to violence.

It's an enormous allegory about apartheid in South Africa. They just replaced black people with aliens.

It's a good movie unless you go in expecting something that's a shoot 'em up.

The trailer kinda' makes it look like an action movie.

I'm going to try and see it tonight.

I was dissapointed in this movie. THe storyline is predictable. No major revelations occur. I would recomend waiting for the DVD version.

Looking forward to Inglorious [censored]

I liked it. It raised some pretty interesting moral issues and was shot in a very gritty, realist way. Very nice after the antiseptic GI Joe.

They didn't go into the "prestory" enough though. Some holes in the plot because of that.

Agree.

I thought the way they made the aliens look was a bit weak. I wish they would think outside the box and make them look less human in terms of skeletal structure.

Now that I think about it, if the aliens were smart enough to build the space ship and the advanced weapons that they had then they should have been smart enough to invade earth instead of staying on their ship and starving. If they were peaceful then they could have diplomatically seeked help from humans?

That's the part of the back story that they didn't' explain and why there are holes. The aliens had been here for 20 years but they never explain why they came here, why they were on the ship, what their governmental structure is, why workers have weapons, how those weapons and even the aliens got down to earth...

Plus every scientist on the planet would be scouring that ship for technology...24/7.

You have to ignore these types of things for the movie to work, but still, the moral issues they raise makes for an interesting movie.

I thought the aliens were OK. At least they weren't humans in make up.

Yeah the moral stuff I got while watching the movie. The other stuff came afterwards.

I thought they could have made the aliens look less like giant bugs. Besides the main alien and his kid, I think the others seemed a little barbaric as well. Maybe I'm assuming they're more advanced than humans than what the writer meant them to be.
