I searched but couldn't find a thread on this surprisingly.

Can I flush old antifreeze mixture down the toilet/kitchen sink with a clear conscience? I know used oil needs to be taken in but what about this stuff?

The City Shops over on Midland road accept used oil and antifreeze for disposal. There is a small building over on the west entrance that I believe is the drop off point.

Like others have noted, it is up to your municipal sewage district (assuming you are not on a private septic system). If you have a septic system you do not want to flush it down the drain.

Give them a call and they will be able to tell you. When we lived in the City of Milwaukee they said it was acceptable. That was 13 years ago however, and it may or may not apply to your municipality.

OK thanks guys.

Was hoping I could just dump it without worry but better safe than sorry. Long story short I want to thin out the mixture in my intercooler and the lazy way to do it is to just stick an aquarium line in the reservoir and start siphoning off with the pump running, adding distilled water as I go, until what comes out is almost clear. Beats pulling the fender to get at the hose. lol

Since you live in Billings, MT...From the City of Billings website:

Where can I take used motor oil, antifreeze, batteries, computers and other hazardous waste?

You can take motor oil and antifreeze to either 4848 Midland Rd during regular business hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday through Friday or to the landfill during normal landfill hours. We accept car, boat and motor home batteries at the landfill during normal landfill hours. Computers can be disposed of at the landfill or for City of Billings residents they can put them in their trash. If you would like to recycle your computer or any other electronics you can take them to Tatooine Electronic Systems

be very careful the water companies can trace where it came from in some cases it was in the newspaper about a year ago someone threw used oil down the drain and they arrested him and it cost him thousands in clean up..

Auto parts stores often will allow you to dump old oil and fluids in disposal drums they have in back of their stores...phone the place you buy your parts and ask if they'll take old coolant.

Years ago I was in a camera/photo developing store picking up some photos. While waiting, a guy walked in wearing a tie looking like a salesman for something. The guy asked the clerk in store what they did with their old chemicals, and the clerk thinking the guy was selling something and trying to brush him off said something like: "We already got that under control, we've got a pipe we dump the chemicals into the ground with out in back of the store!" The salesman looking guy with the tie then said: "I'm with the state environmental protection agency and I'm here to help you." The store clerk almost had a heart attack...I got my developed photos and took off.
