We have a Roku and Netflix...if you start subscribing to several channels on Roku like HuluPlus, Amazon and Blockbuster..it can get expensive.
Dish has great service and over the years has replaced a couple of tired DVRs, some badly waterlogged cables from the roof and a roof dish that probably got hit by lightning..no charge.
Newer TVs do not require Roku or similar device. If you subscribe to many services it defeats the purpose I agree. Amazon prime is also a shipping service, might justify for heavy Amazon shoppers. Otherwise Netflix is enough for most.
The happiness of the wife comes first, of course.
I understand all that, and yes we have a Roku unit and use it. But the kicker is I want FOX News, and they do not stream. Dish has screwed me over for the last time. I'm switching my TV, internet, and Telephone service, locked in wit a price guarantee for 3 years saving me $80 dollars a month with the same channels I got on Dish plus 2 preminum channels, high speed internet and unlimited telephone.
Dish claims to have the lowest average price out there, I'm not interested about averages, only what MY BILL IS.
