Disgusting Amazon advertisement

Yes but still recommend it for rest of the internet except BITOG
for the most part its flawless and if you have some issue you can always turn it off for that site.
I'm not disagreeing with you. I used to use Firefox on my PCs years ago. I now have an Apple infrastructure and have had good luck using Safari in private mode (I know that's a different thing entirely). Yes, I know there is a Mac OS version of Firefox, but in general I like to keep things "standard equipment" on my Mac. I can honestly say I only get pop ups on this one particular website.

Once again, you are being very helpful and it is appreciated.

The only thing that upsets me, is I can't read Spanish in the blue outer box. I may need Rosetta Stone. I have no issues watching her skate or eat.

No, I think you have the wrong “Liu”. I think I have the right “Liu”, I think that is a picture of Alysa Liu.

Your minds eye Liu is Joyce Liu.

It's how websites earn money. I doubt there are any website/forums that survive on "membership fees" or donations.
I know that, but does Amazon pay that F1 website to advertise there? In other words, does the F1 website choose Amazon to advertise with them? I would think.

A quick search yielded this fairly accurate basic answer:
Internet ads on forums function by displaying targeted banner ads or sponsored links, usually managed by ad networks like Google AdSense.
Forum owners place code snippets on their site, which then allow networks to hold real-time auctions to show ads tailored to the forum's content (contextual) or the user's browsing history (personalized), paying the owner on a cost-per-click or impression basis.

The real problem with Amazon, and Prime, is that "two day" deliveries are becoming more of a myth, and half the time, you will be sent someone else's sloppy returns.

My latest order has been in "processing" at a local hub 20 minutes away for three days, and is two days late. Zero notifications of any delay, and a proactive check reveals no real information.

Have to wonder what Amazon brings to the table now, other than selection, and a return policy that's ripe for abuse, and is abused as a normal practice.

The increasing signs of being too big to care, and not caring, are becoming harder to ignore.

With late stage capitalism in full effect, they can ensh--ify with no worries.

Amazon has really improved out here. Next day Prime. That said Walmart is taking some of the turf and they are next day as well.

Never actually got a return shipped to me. Interesting

So this F1 forum auctions off ad space for their website - and given my many (too many) purchases from Amazon Prime I am targeted by Amazon when visiting this F1 website.

I wonder why they thought I spoke Espanol, er ah, Spanish? Maybe they saw my 50+ year old high school transcripts where I took three years of Espanol, er ha, dang it(!), Spanish. I'm joking, but it wouldn't surprise me.

There are companies, called "ad networks", that handle this. Companies go to them to display ads for their business. The ad networks approach websites or vis-versa to have ads displayed on the sites. The advertiser, i.e. Amazon, likely doesn't have direct contact with the website.

I am not sure where you get the idea that she looks like drug induced trance.

It is just dyed hair and some makeup. Maybe Shinjuku Tokyo style? Maybe American trying to look Shinjuku? I don't know but that's just kids being kids without looking like their dads.

I don't know what forum that is so I'm not defending it, but do you realize they may have no control over what ads are shown ?
Those ads are now sent to Google and based on your profile they send you ads that likely you are target for. If you google a lot about divorce you get a lot of dating site ads. If you google a lot about tires you get a lot of tire ads. If you google a lot about phones you get free phone if you switch cell carrier ads.

Don't blame the site. They all use some sort of internet profile to get you your ads.

They've mostly been fine here in the past, but heading in the wrong direction and declining in general.

And if you need help now, trying to get past the canned help garbage and in contact with a human being is another hurdle. It used to be very easy to initiate a chat, or a phone call, no matter the time of day. I once had an after normal business hours chat who was obviously in a foreign call center in a different time zone and it had to be in Blighty, because his voice sounded just like Billy Idol.

I just did that with those order, and the rep finally acknowledged that the order was lost in transit, last scanned >36hrs ago.

There were no notices of a delay, or anything but false hope. Proactively checking the site only provided canned status notices, and empty promises that the order would arrive by such and such a time. Nope. Empty boilerplate.

No notification or confirmation of the replacement order that the rep arranged either. Almost like they didn't want to talk about, or acknowledge something had gone awry.

Someone recently posted here about T-Mo cancelling one of their orders and costing them a deal because they didn't see the notices that the pickup window was closing. At least T-Mo attempted to maintain contact in good faith, even if those attempts were not seen.

I'm not expecting to be served on a silver platter; just be honest with your customer. And being a long time user of Aliexpress, I know what bad, or non-existent customer service is like, and having to fend for yourself. Now it's becoming harder to say that, if you don't want that risk, go shop on Amazon.

With regard to getting used/returned stuff sold as new, it's not hard to find such complaints in the negative reviews. At least they don't censor those, yet anyway. But you do have to be logged into see anything beyond what is teased on the item listing, which are mostly the good reviews. People are gaming Amazon and taking full advantage of their return policy to audition, then return things as a normal practice. Those returned items are being passed right through whatever processing that takes place, and placed right back into stock, and sold as new again. Those who had a Fry's Electronics in their state would have déja vu, and probably a good chuckle.

One doesn't even have to be an Amazon shopper to feel those effects; there are brands that sell on multiple platforms and use FBA as their fulfillment provider. Been there done that getting a return through that channel as well.

You know the saying is about the real test of character is not when things go as expected, but how someone behaves when they don't go as expected? That.

The Amazon UX is in decline, and how they advertise would be the least of my concerns with them.
