I have seen all sorts of stuff come and go over the 50 years In this business, some were good, some were great and others were total crap like seat belt interlock, automatic seat belts, hydro boost, thermactor pumps, emission carburetors, cylinder deactivation, etc.
IMO this falls into the crap category, overly complex and expensive to repair to save a few bucks and satisfy some agenda.

Just find it funny that people can complain of 20 seconds without a/c when most people 50 years ago had NO a/c in their cars.

I first had AC in my car in 2008 I think.. no need to go back that far. What cars have noisy engines at idle these days though? I can't tell if the engine is running without looking at the tacho.
