I thought I had read here once about a car that was direct injected but also has 1 extra injector port injected. This to have fuel go over the intake valves. Anyone heard of this? I was thinking it was a Porche with a total of 7 injectors? Anyhow heard of this before? Just trying to read up on it if so.

I think this is a good way to go about it too, it will help keep the intake valves clean of the gunk that seems to plauge direct injected engines.. nice job toyota.

Cool about toyota's. Seems they are doing an extra injector for each cylinder. One D.I. and one P.I.

But I was thinking of a different car where I heard it had 6 cylinder's and 6 direct injectors and 1 port injector for a total of 7. Anyone heard of this or am I just thinking of someone's "good idea" they had? lol

In the early days there would be 1 extra injector for cold start enrichment then the Bosch figured out how to enrich with out the extra injector which saved the mfg $$$ now we are going backwards as the technology trys to fo forward.

Example of an engine with the "cold start injector" was the early GM 350 L98 engines. You are correct, later on they just pulsed the injectors longer during cold starts to enrich the mixture.
