Can these filters be used? I ordered 3 fleetguard stratapore oil filters and they just threw them in the box with no packaging, so all of them have a minor dent coincidently all in the same spot. Didn't think much about it at the time , but I'm reluctant to use them now. I actually only thought it was one of the three. Let's just say if they had fluted ends that's where the dent would be. They're about the size of a dime. I don't think there is anything in that area at the very bottom where it would matter if it was dented. Does it?

If they're damaged where the seal is don't use them they'll leak.
A little dent or ding anywhere else it'll be okay

If it is a minor dent on the dome end, it is probably fine. Interestingly enough I bought two Fleetguard filters for my log splitter hydraulic system, and both had small dents in the same area. Kind of annoying considering how much they cost, but I've been using one of them now for 20 hours or so and no leaks yet.

Pics or never happened.

I guess it's it's just one. The other one was already installed. It looks bigger in the Pic, but it's on the bottom off towards the edge somewhat as shown.

Well you could practise the PDR techniques on these dented filters. And we'd accept the delay that might cause...
You would think 80 pounds of oil pressure would pop them back out. I would think it pushed the end cap out of place with the ding being where it is.

I would say that the filter is the cheapest part of the engine, and if it fails, it can create the most damage. Is the crease all that bad, know know, no one here has xray vision.....so maybe.

Is it worth a failure, no.
