Different versions of PF63 ???

I thought I'd by a pack of 12 oil filters since you get a better deal versus buying one at a time.

The filter I have been using is the AC Delco PF63 with part #89017525, and it's a normal looking filter when you look into the top where the threaded part is.

But, when I got the pack of 12, it is AC Delco part #19330001 and the part where the treads are is flat and it doesn't look the same.

I'm sending them back regardless cause I'm not using these... but, I'm curious what is the difference between these two?

Is the one with part #19330001 got the plastic inside or something?

OK, I see some other articles posted around the net.

I guess I'll keep using the old ones I have in stock till they're gone.

That way, if this new design starts blowing engines or something mine won't be one of them

Considering it's a press release from a PR company, I wouldn't put much stock in their "talking points" or claims-it's still an Ecore!

I cut open a ACDelco PF52E which is an ecore. It had 61 pleats total which is a lot.

Just curious, how many failed E-cores are posted on here? Just trying to get an understanding of the E-core dislike on here.

This is an ecore I recently cut open. The end cap was pushed up around the leaf spring and the media was starting to like through the windows. It hadn't failed yet but looks like it might have if it was run longer. This is why no one likes scores.

But anyway that filter does look bad.

It was a pf48e that the dealer out on my wife's car instead of a pf63 like it should have. It has about 7000 miles on it with Mobil 1 with only 40k on the vehical.

Ok the PF48E is 3 inches in diameter and 3.34 inches tall. The PF52E is the same diameter and 4.44 inches tall.

Besides the height difference of the two filters, the pleat count of the PF52E is a lot more than the PF48E. The 48E has a relief valve, but the 52E does not.

Not sure what to think why there are a lot more pleats in one filter over the other. Maybe the relief valve increased cost, so they lowered the pleat count?

I guess time will tell and looks like GM will be fixing a bunch of engines if they fail like that with some owners taking their oil changes out to 10k, going by the OLM.
