PF63 AC Delco Newest part number 12735811 VS old 12731742...what is the difference. I currently have a stock of the old 12731742

I just purchased a 2024 Silverado 2500HD w/ the 6.6 L gasser motor. The owner's manual lists the ACDelco PF63 or a GM12707246 filter. Is this another new version?

Does anyone know why ACD filters have that to begin with?
When the very first E-Cores came out in 2004, they did not have it. The extra plate was added pretty quick and explained from the then Champ Labs rep as a response to the oil change industry to allow the lube techs to better center the outlet hole and start the thread on to the oil filter base. Without the extra plate, the exposed tapping plate is more concave and made centering more difficult in remote reach install applications.

Exactly. It's the difference between a protruding non-beveled thread boss (no auxiliary plate) and a slightly recessed, or level to end thread boss. When Champ Labs had their expanded ecore diagram with extra plate, basically said to make installation easier as explained above. If you look at current Fram EG/TG 6607/7317, 4967/4386, those have used same thread design as new PF63.
