Diesel Treat 2000 fuel additive

As some may know, I had a shrimper that had a somewhat lazy mechanic do some work on his engine.. basicly, fixed the symptom,replaced bearings on overhead cam, but failed to find what caused the problem, oil sump screen clogged up with gasket material and old wire ties and such. So, after 5 times of repairing this motor, without ever pulling the pan, I was finally able to convince the shrimper to allow me to pull it, which we did, and found the cause of the problem.

Now, due to this garbage floating around, his engine broke a ring on the #4 piston, so here he sits with his engine torn down.

This engine has been running schaeffers for approx 5yrs, and in the last year, I convinced him to use our diesel treat 2000 fuel additive.

Here is some pic's of the piston and head so you can see for yourself the carbon or should I say the lack of carbon build up on these parts. Also, none of the piston rings were stuck nor was there any carbon deposits on the backside of the rings.

Thats impressive Bob. Looks a lot cleaner than my Dads old CAT diesel or the Navy emergency Gen Set diesels I've seen on teardown.

Some of the TDI folks really like Schaeffer's SoyShield. Do you think Diesel Treat and Soyshield would clean similarly?

In 1995 I got 2 gallons of Diesel Treat 2000 from a Shell distributor that used it in his retail diesel pumps. It was mixed bulk. I have since starting to use the Schaeffer's Soy Shield. Pretty inexpensive on a $250 order. I got a 4 gallon case. I pulled the glow plugs on my right bank at the begining of the cold weather. They were as clean as new ones. This was on a PSD. The Diesel Treat works, but now I have switched to the Soy Shield on my 01, and Neutra 131 on my 95 with FP every other tank. (2 Fuel Tanks) Just my preference.

For your TDI, I recommend the Soy Shield as you already use Schaeffer's products on other vehicles, and you could include it on your order the next time, or from Tim in smaller quantities.

maybe thats impressive for that kind of engine, but i have seen vw diesels with 200K that look better than that, using generic conventional oil and no fuel.
what kinda engine is that? and whats that kinda engine look like normally?

edit: i meant to say no fuel treatment.

Here is a picture of the exact same type of head off of another 343cat on the mandylyn boat. Figured this might give you some idea of one that isn't using a fuel additive.

What happened was they had taken a part off, drained the oil, went and got another part, replaced it, then forgot to put oil back into it. They started without the oil, and ended up with bad bottom end knock, now having to pull the block. So Carlie and I both went over to look at what they had, but all that was there was the head, so here is the pic on it. It has been approx a year since it was pulled off. Notice the accumilation around the cyl area. They use delo 400 and no fuel additive.

I just purchased.. a lot of Diesel Treat 2000.

The ratio on the jug is 1 gal/2000 gal of fuel. I was wondering if I could up it by 100%? I have used Diesel Kleen and it has two diffrent ratio; one for 300 gal and 150 gal of fuel.

Can I use more than 3oz in my 38 gal F-350 tank without doing harm?

Can I use it in my gas cars?

You can use dt 2000 http://www.schaefferoil.com/datapdf/137.pdf or the winterized version
http://www.schaefferoil.com/datapdf/137AND.pdf up to three times the recommended amount and do no harm.
It is not designed for gas engines.
