Put the lawnmower up today. Ran it out of gas, and then put a good bit of stabil into the gas tank. then I tried to start it, to make sure it got into the carb. It started, and I let it run for 3 seconds. I say let, because when I let go of the shut off handle... It didn't stop running. It released, but it kept going. Started smoking white smoke, but kept running. I pulled and let go of the handle a few times, no result. Uhhhhhhhh......

It finally shut off on it's own 45 seconds later. So apparently, if you want a diesel lawnmower, fill it up with Sta-bil. =P

Like I said, I ran it out of gas, and added it to hopefully keep the carb clean this year. Figured pure stabil would be fine just to sit in the carb.

this was more that I'm surprised that it was able to ignite by compression and heat only, no spark necessary. I didn't realize that StaBil was so volatile.

I had that happen unwittingly when a mouse nest made my mower overheat, and messed with the governor paddle so it oversped as well.

My deadman brake was missing; yours could have gotten nice and hot if it was at all effective.
