Diesel Fuel Crank Case Cleaner

Hello friends. Hope all of you are well.

I heard / read hear that a little diesel in the crank case can get great de-gunking, de-sludging done in a crank case pre-OCI. How much would one put in my 4.0 Litre 6 Cylinder Jeep Wrangler engine with 160,000 miles on the odometer. I intend on filling it up with 6 quarts of Mobil 1 0w40 and change the filter with either a M1 or K&N filter. I thank you in advance.

I use kero. That's just me though. Best way imo is go 50/50 with kero and some thick cheap oil ( ie: rotella 15w40) and run it for a few min then drain

If you want to do that type of flush, buy Amsoil engine flush and follow the directions. No load on the engine during the flush.

There are always risks in trying any type of quick flush. You may loosen too much crud and clog oil gallies or the pickup screen. Be careful how much cleaning you wish for.

While people have their favorite additives for engine cleaning, almost everyone would agree that a high quality synthetic engine oil will slowly clean the engine which is what you want.

BTW - I believe that engine has piston skirt issues.

Didn't you hear? Everyone's engine is "dirty". Why else would they sell all those additives to cure it?

Throw 6 quarts of Pennzoil Ultra in it with an oversize filter, such as a PL30001 Pure One, and drive it!

Yeah, heck, with Ultra, it'll make 900HP and get 400000MPG, it'll be SURGICAL clean. He'll have doctors calling him up to use his valve cover as an operating table!

Dude! It keeps getting used engine oil inside it. Haven't you ever accidentally dribbled some used engine oil on a shirt or wiped some up with a rag? It makes stuff dirty. This engine keeps getting the stuff repeatedly inside it not just spilled on it.

Even mixing Tide with non-lemon scented Cascade powder might not make that thing clean again.

The Jeep 4.0 doesn't care for Mobil 1, even the 0w40 that is so loved on here. The Ultra suggestion was a good one for cleaning.

Not really keen on the flush for your Jeep, have you considered something slow and easy (safer) like Marvel Mystery oil instead.

Mine is grimed up badly too due to previous owner neglect, but it runs like a top, so I take it really slow with oil changes and MMO. If yours is running well also, you might be well advised to take it slow as well.

Fine fine fine. Overkill is sort of right (for a change). My Baby has mostly had only tier 1 synthetics put in since I bought it in '07. I think I may have had a short run with some Valvoline but it freaked me out so I dumped it at 3,000. I do remember a Pennzoil conventional run of 5000 miles as well. But I usually run Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck and Mobil 1 0w40 all the time. Im actually looking for a name brand 0-50 since it sounds like I may need it. I have on occasion drained a quart and put in MMO like KCJeep was referring to. I usually run the MMO in the crank case for 300 miles then drain it.

RiceCake and Donald are alluding to something important here:
Sometimes "Leaving good enough, alone" is the best course of action.
I know my Jeep leaves other Jeeps in its dust, Im just fretting too much here.

Dont dump a bunch of diesel or kerosene in it!
Just run a quality synthetic like M1, Mobil 1 High Mileage, Pennzoil Platinum, Pennzoil Ultra, or Rotella T6. Any of these will clean a dirty engine.
If you want maximum cleaning from an oil try Redline, its an ester base and cleans well.

Other options would be dino and MMO or Kreen.
