Did you buy yourself any tools for Christmas?

In 2022 we got a new Corvette convertible and a certified used low mileage Lexus SUV. We retrofitted our home with Mitsubishi heat pump HVAC. New window shades, a new dishwasher, some new kitchen countertop appliances. So we did not feel like spending a whole lot for Christmas on ourselves or each other. We are thinking rooftop solar panels for next year.

I bought myself a Milwaukee M18 grease gun on black Friday. Came with a battery and charger and was still cheaper than the bare tool as well as the Dewalt bare tool.

Are they Mitsubishi mini splits? If so, how do you like them?

I grabbed these for $20, even though I didn't need them.
Grey Pneumatic (1203M) 3/8" Drive 13-Piece 12-Point Standard Length Metric Socket Set
I realize they're 12 point impact sockets, but they'll work good in a battery powered 3/8" drive impact wrench and impact gun I have.

These were bought because the price was hard to pass on.

They are wonderful. We got them early in the heating season. Being on a Vermont mountain, I was concerned about how they would work in very cold weather. They pour out heat down to zero F. At that point, we shut them down and go back to our oil fueled hot water heat, which we left in place. Wife complains that the mini splits are too warm sometimes. And they are quiet. 12 year warranty.

Nice.

I’m partial to these since they were I believe one of the first in the game. We have an old farm house and running ducts upstairs to each bedroom seems like a disaster compared to these. I’d try to get one with 5 heads.

This is the way to go. Each head is individually controllable. And in summer, you get air conditioning.. Because we shut them down at zero degrees, I call them our Mitsubishi Zeros. The wife groans. Yes, Mitsubishi was a pioneer and they have the technology down pat. We could have gone cheaper, but in life, I have learned that buying the best you can afford results in the most long term satisfaction.

I got a 9” torpedo level from my mother in law. My wife must have noticed my frustration always trying to level photos and shelving around the house with my 24” level and made a recommendation. I have a great wife.

Ordered another flashlight, back during BF.

~4000 genuine lumens of pure flood for the first minute or two, and can sustain 1000lm for 2hrs, 500lm for 5.5hrs, or 100lm for 30hrs. Tested and verified, not fanciful figures on a package or website.

Only thing it's missing is a high-CRI emitter.

Can't club anyone with it, but true and pocketable performance.

Yes. I pre-ordered one of the Badland 3-ton Off-Road Jacks yesterday from Harbor Freight with my 20% off coupon. I don't understand why no stores on the east coast have never seen one, where there's 20+ youtube review videos already out. I guess they are all out west.

Also picked up an "open box" set of Icon 3/8" Drive, metric deep sockets. The set was missing 13, 15, 16, 17mm sockets. The only one I need is the 17mm and I have two already in other sets, so no biggie. This is a $50 regular priced set, I got it for $17. Also bought a set of 3-ton jack stands and some other minor miscellaneous stuff.

Received- 1/4" drive metric shallow socket set, 3 piece hose pliers, 2 pc Kiwi pliers set, Braun LED flash light.

I did ah-ite.

Lucky you. Wife won’t let me do mini splits. Stuck with window ac units for the summer months.

Dewalt 891
Nice I have the DCF899HB and love it.

I didn't buy myself any tools, but got the dewalt dcv517b vacuum and the dewalt battery angle grinder. The vacuum will be great for cleaning the cars and general shop use, and the grinder will be great for mower blades.

On Christmas Eve I took my old Craftsman 12v/cigarette lighter powered inflator out to top off the van's tires, it blew a seal or something internally and wouldn't put out any air. Pulled out my phone and used a Home Depot gift card I've been sitting on to order the Makita 18v cordless inflator. Picked it up yesterday, works great and a handy design. Won't need to start the cars to inflate stuff anymore. Inexplicably, it doesn't have a trigger/switch lock, so you have to press the trigger to keep it going. It does have set points and auto shutoff though. Weird. Anyway some enterprising folks have produced locks for this thing so I'll probably get one of those.

Astro Pneumatics exhaust pipe stretcher. Finally broke the old style expander I’ve had for several decades that really never was able to stretch the pipe, but rather reformed the ends of pipes. This one is not the cheapest or most expensive but it did have fairly good reviews. Will test it out this week to ensure it functions as it should for the 88 bucks spent. Merry Christmas to all.

I forgot I got an DCG 412 angle grinder too. It came free with purchase of the Dewalt 891.
