I seen that M1 is now sporting the dexos1 logo in the reg 5w30. Have they changed anything to meet this new spec?
Have been using PP but may switch to M1.

They say they haven't in the Q&A, but the specs have changed a bit on the oil....not a lot, but some.

In general many manufacturers make minor changes in formulations, perhaps even more than once a year in some cases. The manufacturers don’t talk about it, but it has been noted by those who do UOAs on numerous samples on a regular basis.

Many times the changes are driven by improvements in performance or the availability of additives/components, but they can also be driven by cost. This is one reason why it’s difficult to accurately choose the oil that produces the least engine wear via UOAs done over the course of several months or years. By the time you have the data to determine the best, the formulations have changed.

Wow. It went from liquid styrofoam to an average motor oil density.

Lol. Right. I didn't like it at .80,seemed too thin, so I went to PP which was .85 and the motor was slightly smoother. The PP seemed done at about 6 months so I switched to EP, which is about the same density as the PP. Motor felt the same, but the EP went longer before it was done. Done is extreme gasoline smell and slight drop in oil level. I would try the new M1 at .86 density,if I got an AZ deal, but plan to continue with the EP for now.

The higher density is probably just an engineering change to pre-load the oil with elemental iron. That way, it can produce the famous "high iron" UOA's without the bother of wearing the engine.
