Mobil 1 HM @ Wallyworld in the 5qt jug in my area was more expensive than Mobil 1 0W-40 in the 5qt last week.

The oil companies have to keep their shareholders happy somehow.

And Johnny's retirement along with other oil company retirees cannot be getting any cheaper for SOPUS and the like.

Actually I was exaggerating. I remember PB Syntec 0W-30 costing around $8.50 a year ago. $9.19 is not too bad. But finished oil prices are going up across the board. I hope they don't just continue going up.

Find a friendly dealer near you that will allow you to pickup the oil for free.

My dealer either brings me the lube or allows me to pick it up directly from his house. I don't pay for shipping because i buy the oil when he goes down to the distribution center to stock up. Amsoil OE is $4.50 a quart if you buy a case and the SS line oils come out to $8.15 a quart which IMO is an awesome deal for Amsoil's best lube compared to oil prices posted in this thread.

No one up here pays $9/L for synthetic either do they? My personal limit is about $5/L which almost every oil gets that cheap on sale once a year. Its not like it goes bad!

That's what I was thinking.
Over 2011, one could have stocked up on FAR Ultra, VR1, QSUD and G-Oil.
There were also some nice clearances of gallon jugs, which could be combined with Valvoline and Castrol MIRs, along with the usual oil+filter specials.
Why would anyone be bemoaning the regular price of synthetic motor oil, when there is rarely any need to pay it?

The only thing that keeps me from ordering Redline,RP HPS,Amsoil,etc,is that you get ripped on shipping. Now if it were free shipping,I`d buy those over any over the counter synths.
