Did I drain my FF too early?

For US made vehicles that's true. Any vehicle made in Japan gets the moly oil from Idemitsu. As Honda is concerned, I don't know which of any models are still imported. Mazda and Mitsubishi are totally Japan made as are some Lexus models and the Toyota Land Cruiser if I'm not mistaken.

Yep, the oil you dumped was probably better than what you refilled with. Honda puts a special moly conditioner in the oil when the vehicle is new.

We actually had a service bulletin stating that doing the first oil change early can actually damage the motor, causing hot spots on the wear areas because the additives that prevent friction during break in will be drained. I am assuming this is moly from the assembly lube.

Whether it's from assembly lube or add packs, upwards of 500 ppm Mo it has.

well shoot...my 09' civic which I had for 5yrs didn't have any issues...my 03' accord nope none either, and my current 17' civic nope know issues yet. All FF changed out with 1000 miles or less...

Once the engine has oil pressure this compound is doing very little as far as additional wear protection goes, rogue metallic particles are possibly doing more harm than the moly is doing good.
