If you do not have any heart disease it is a good idea to cut back on carbonhydrates which include everything with sugar in it, bread, pasta, rice, bakery products, alcohol, beans, potatos, fruits etc.

This will significantly reduce blood glucose levels and increase insulin sensitivity.

For more info please search ketogenic diet on google,

Best of luck.

Why would you not want to cut back on carbs if you DO have heart disease.

My father got type 2 in his mid 40's. He was overweight by 50 pounds but was a laborer until he had to retire at age 60. He lost some weight (20 pounds or so), but not nearly enough.

A nasty, nasty disease. But he made it to 80 before it all caught up to him. He never needed any amputations, but his eyesight was very close to gone (legally blind) the last few year he was alive.

To those with the disease, do all that you can (and then some) to keep it in check. Best of luck.

A sudden stop of carb intake temporarily increases blood fat levels
